Don Eiland grew up on a ranch in northeastern New Mexico before graduating
from high school in Hereford, Texas. He and his wife Judy have been married
34 years. Judy is a third grade teacher at Bassetti Elementary with over 30
years experience. They have a son, Ryan, who lives in New York City, and a
daughter, Stephanie, who attends Hardin Simmons University.
Mr. Eiland graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a bachelor’s
degree in science in 1969. He began his teaching career at Jefferson Junior
High School where he taught 8th grade science and coached for seven years.
He coached and taught at Albany High School in Albany, Texas and at Muleshoe
High School in Muleshoe, Texas. In 1980 Mr. Eiland was employed by McMurry
College where he was the head track coach and assistant football coach. In
1982 Mr. Eiland again joined with the Abilene ISD. He earned his Master of
Education degree from Abilene Christian University in 1983. Since that time
he has been assistant principal at Lincoln Middle School, principal at Project
PASS, and Director of Student Services.
After serving in education for 34 years, 28 of those years in Abilene ISD,
Mr. Eiland still enjoys working with students, parents, and staff. Don Eiland
