High School Committee
with emphasis on Improvement of
Ninth Grade Instruction.
Committee members will look
at the structure of our current high school program
with emphasis on improving the success of 9 th graders
including courses open to 9 th graders, the possibility
of the “school
within a school” concept, teaming 9 th graders,
etc. The committee will study the impact of block scheduling
since its inception in 1995 and will recommend a schedule
for AISD high schools which will maximize our staff
and resources while maintaining the strong instructional
program of the district.

Middle School Committee
The way we do middle school has not significantly
changed since its inception in AISD in 1984. The committee
will look at the schedule, the course offerings, improving
the team concept, and the impact of going from 5 to
4 middle schools.

Project Pass Committee
The Project Pass Committee will look at the instructional
program for our overage middle school students. The
task for this committee is to examine methods to improve
instruction and achievement for these students in an
efficient and successful way. Committee members will
examine the current course offerings at Project Pass
, “best practices” for at-risk students,
and improving the graduation rate for students who
promote from Project Pass to our two high schools.
