Woodson Center for Excellence is an alternative high school for at-risk students.  It offers two programs, Bridges and Excel.

Bridges is an accelerated 8th/9th grade program for students who are 15 years old by a designated date in the fall and still enrolled in middle school.  The goal of the program is to enable students to complete both 8th and 9th grade in one year.  Students are classified as 9th graders and earn credit toward their high school diploma.

The 10th grade program provides more individual attention and a smaller classroom setting for 15 or 16 year old students who have completed the 9th grade.  Students may return to the regular high school campus or apply to attend the Excel program.

Excel is a program of choice.  It offers a self-paced program designed to accelerate a student’s education and meet state and local graduation requirements.  Students who are classified as 12th graders are eligible to participate in senior activities and graduate with their respective high school.  Students must be 17 years old, enrolled in Abilene High School, Cooper High School or the 10th grade program at WCE and be at risk or not graduating on time.
